Peter Brock Killed

Australian Motor racing great Peter Brock was killed today, whilst competing in The Tara race outside Perth Western Australia. Reports say Brock hit a tree and was killed instantly. the co driver is said to be seriously injured. Peter Brock dead at 61 years of age.

Have you ever had a seriously bad day? One that requires years of recovery? Graeme Jarry is a former security guard who experienced that kind of day when he tried to foil and armed robbery, more than 10 years ago. Subsequent to that incident, his life became unbelievably tumultuous and challenging. It's difficult to imagine that a person could go through so much, only to crawl back up again and become a new man in the process.

Talking about the armed robbery he tried to intercept, Graeme says no amount of training can prepare you for that situation. It left him physically and mentally affected, suffering from posttraumatic stress. He says, "I found for a long time I couldn't sleep. I was at such a heightened sense of alertness and fear. I became very drained and worn out. I couldn't say what I was feeling and what was going on. I used to sleep with my firearm under my pillow; I was in fear. I'd had a couple of phone calls that were threatening; this was after the police had caught the guys and I'd identified them."

At doctors' insistence, he took a range of medication and underwent shock treatment. Except he feels these measures provided little to no assistance. At one point his wife couldn't cope and left him, and he attempted suicide.

Incredibly, he's since restored a sense of wellbeing in his life and now helps others with drug dependencies. He says, "I do look back on the person I once was... I've got a zest for life today that I didn't have for the last 10 years. A lot of the last 10 years isn't there actually. Emotionally, I sort of didn't grow for that period of time. Sometimes you feel like a kid, quite raw, you can accept it rather than keep trying to change it. You can work on, making yourself stronger."

World Cup and Australia

Well in Australia the Soceroos fans are getting ready for the party of the year. Australia with a large Italian population will brave the cold of winter to cheer and suport both sides. It's shapping up to be the match of matches, with not many commentors giving the aussies much of a chance early on. Well the Soceroos have certainly shown they are a team to be reveared.

Well Who is going to win out of the Socceroos and Italy. I hear that the aussies will have to get up early to watch their beloved socceroos. Who do you think will win?

Guinea Pigs History

Their scientific name is Cavia Tschuldi and their nickname in South America where they were first discovered, is“Cavy. As you might have guessed Guinea Pigs are rodents.
Near the Andes Mountains in Peru over a thousand years ago , some Inca Indians were exploring near the tall grass on the edge of a forest, when they found dozens of little hairy creatures scampering around.
The fat little animals when they bent down to pick them up did not bite or even seem to mind . The Incas soon learned that the cavies or cuy, were wild but safe animals, who liked to hide in tall grass away from the hungry owls and other predators that they were easy prey to.
They searched out burrows and homes made by rabbits or snakes or other creatures and made these spaces their home. When it was night and dark, they would wander out to find food. Wild guinea pigs live all over South America from Argentina to Columbia. Some scientists say that the Inca Indians were the first to tame the wild guinea pigs, but other scientists think that even prehistoric people as far back as 5000 B.C. were keeping guinea pigs as pets and raising them as a source of food.
